to Two, Local Non-profit Organizations

COLUMBIA, Mo. (April 27, 2023) – To honor National Volunteer Month in April, a dozen UScellular associates in Columbia lent helping hands to distribute food at Central Pantry, owned and operated by The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri, and to make and serve lunch to veterans at Welcome Home. These activities are two of 40 Acts of Service that UScellular associates are hosting throughout its service areas this month to commemorate the company’s 40th anniversary.

“At UScellular, it’s important that we give back to the communities that we serve,” said Joe Cabrera, director of sales for UScellular in Missouri and Kansas. “We’re excited to take part in these efforts at the local food pantry and veterans home where we can create even more meaningful connections with each other while also taking the time to do something positive for the Columbia community.”

The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri is a regional disaster and hunger relief network that acquires and distributes the equivalent of more than 20 million meals annually to partner agencies across a 32-county area. This includes 145 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other agencies to ensure food gets into the hands of those who need it most. The Food Bank also works with nearly 200 schools to help students receive nutritious food.

Welcome Home works to honor Veterans and restore their lives. They provide emergency and transitional shelter, permanent housing, employment assistance, wrap around supportive services to at-risk and homeless Veterans and their families. All at no cost to the Veteran. Welcome Home serves over 350 Veterans every year within 26 counties mid-Missouri counties. Welcome Home’s vision is to end Veteran homelessness. Their values are to serve with honor, compassion and excellence.
